Folks,
Iam starting this new thread so that people will know what are the pros and cons leaving a company once GC is approved.
1.What are all the things to be noted while leaving the company after getting GC.
2.To be specific how long a consultant should be with company after GC is approved.
3.Also once GC is approved and if the consultant is off the payroll for say 2 to 3 months will there be any problem while filing for citizen ship.

Hello,
IMHO, do not sacrifice the career (either yours or your wife's) for the sake of GC .... the amount of money and experience that you stand to lose by not progressing in the career is very difficult to recoup after you get your GC. In this economy, more experience you gather, better will be your chances of securing a higher position and income. I always chose career over GC ... which delayed my GC by about 5 years, but the extra income and experience have more than made up for it ...
The good news is that you have an approved I-140, so you have a priority date that you can always use irrespective of type of application and/or sponsor (which means, you can file for a new I-140 based on your new job but with the old priority date). Do ask your new employer if they are open to file in EB-2 within one year of your employment based on your performance on the job.
The fall back option in terms of your wife's career is dicey to count on in this economy, IMHO. Your H1-B is a better fallback option while your GC is pending....just my 2-cents! Good luck! :)

My colleague told me that he took only chest X-ray and not done skin test he got his GC.
That could be true in the past. But they have been insisting on the TB skin test since last couple of months. Before I am sure it was not a problem. But since recently they have been sending our RFEs. This is what I read on Murthy.com.

being current means nothing, belive me, I filed 485 in March 2004 when everything was current for almost an year, we need IV reform the system to better work for Highly skilled professionals,
I know in coming months many of us might get GC, including many in IV-core team, but I would like to IV go further after getting GC to continue their effort to put a closure by passing SKILL as a law which is our goal

jobs, which require unskilled labor (walmart jobs, starbucks jobs, farm jobs, janitorial work - all are examples) should be paid a living wage. Which means, if a person works for 40 hours a week, he/she should be able to live with the salary.
I can throw in some numbers for Washington, DC area. For a family of 4.
Living wage: Accommodation ($800 apartment) + Food ($500 a month) + Vehicle, since most of America is not well served by public transportation ($400) + Entertainment, Communication, Clothes, Medicine etc ($500). Total = $2200 a month. Divide this by 160 hours a month and you will get $13.75.
So this is the minimum wage all jobs in Washington, DC area should be paying. Companies often get away with paying way below this amount. Then the society ends up paying the difference.
Congrads brother. You have posted one of the "most ridiculous and hillarious" posts ever!! Comparing Starbucks to picking strawberries??? Wow! why not compare strawberry picking to hollywood acting? Why is hollywood not employing ilegal aliens even when reportedly they need millions to produce a single movie? Tough questions eh?? or does it seem ilogical and crazy reasoning??
If you "pay enough" to the laborer, then who will pay for the produce at the walmart?? and how much is "pay enough" as per the current expectations?

One reason I never read Times of India is that they somehow have figured out to beat pop-up blockers and my screen fills up with pop ups for airlines agents and phone cards and its really irritating.

Good information but I feel that it doesn't matter anymore. Even if your visa number is up, your application will probably still sit in a warehouse while the acting director or whomever, keeps using the FBI namecheck backlogs to blind everyone of their inefficiency. :( Frustrated to a point of numbness.

I have approved EB3 LC and approved I 140 with PD JAN 2002. My wife has approved EB2 LC (Perm) and Approved I 140 with PD JAN 2006
As we represent one family can't my wife use my PD and apply I 485 under EB2.
for example If husband is born in a retrogressed country and wife in a non retrogressed country in that case, husband gets a free ride !
Why not in this case ? Just curious !
If your wife is from nonretrogress country which allow her to submit I485 it will be better for you to go with her case (don't have to worry about PD) since it will be current for EB2.
Once she get her greencard approved you will automatically get yours as well.
but as always this is just my opinion everything has still need to be consult with your lawyer.

My friend's dependent spouse got CPO approval on 9/10 and the card itself in earlier this month. However, the primary applicant has received no approval notice. Anyone with similar case?

I mean i filed without both of those. Theyare required in the 140 phase , not in 485.
But keep them handy - in case they wants mail by next day air
